BIO
Gergely is a classical guitarist and teacher based in Budapest, Hungary. After studying in Budapest, in 2011 he was admitted to the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, Austria, where he studied classical guitar performance and music pedagogy. In 2016 he won a scholarship which allowed him to study one year at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, UK.
Experienced with most of the different styles of classical music, especially with early and contemporary music, and also with jazz. During his studies he showed a great interest in playing the lute and baroque guitar. In London he was part of the Guildhall Cantata Ensemble (led by James Johnstone) with whom he gave several concerts in and around the city (eg. Blackheath Halls, Milton Court Hall). He was also part of the Ubu Ensemble (led by Simon Wills) which plays contemporary music.
During his career so far he gave many solo recitals and played with other groups in Hungary, Austria, and the UK. He played for the bishop of London, in the Courtauld Gallery, on festivals, in clubs, churches, museums, cafés, ships, and on events and exciting locations. He had many gigs with groups founded by him: in Hungary and Austria with the Bachstage trio, in the UK with the Happy Beigel Klezmer Orkester.
Gergely occasionally also arranges classical music pieces for the ukulele.
On his most recent concert he has been performing a repertoire featuring Latin-American guitar music
